What you have to do if you go to Uruguay?

Spanish

The essential

Montevideo, is the capital, it goes on the Rio de la Plata to almost the opposite of Buenos Aires. Very typical, its architecture is a mix between Spanish, Italian and modern. The district the most interesting are the Cuidad Vieja and the commercial center, which is around the Independence Place. You have to visit also the Mauseleo de Artigas, the Palacio Salvo, the Plaza Constitucion, the Cabildo which is the city hall. You have to go to the Mercado del Puerto and the Feria de Tristan Narvaja, which is an outside market where you can find food, antiquities and souvenirs.

Plaza Independencia

Then, you have to go to the Uruguayan littoral, with the principal interest which is the Colonia, an animated city. Moreover the Mercedes beaches are ideal for boat, fishing and swimming.

Uruguayan littoral
The Uruguayan River is a place to go too, with is countless beach resort, aquatic activities and its tourist. Of the big resort of Atlantida, you can go into the surrounding countryside, and climb 493m of the Cerro Pan don Azucar or visit Mina, charming town, with woody hills.

Punta del Este

Punta del Este, the biggest and the most famous of the resort of the country, not far from the coast is the Isla Gorriti, who possesses too magnificent beaches as well as the ruins of a fortress of the XVIIIth century, and the Isla de Lobos, the nature reserve being of use as refuge to a colony of sea lions.

Colonia Suiza

The city of Colonia Suiza, is situated at 120km of Montevideo, based by Swiss colonist. It keeps another European charm.

Tacuarembó, is a city pleasant to streets followed by sycamores and to shaded squares. At the end of March, a festival gaucho of three days involves demonstrations, competitions, music and other activities.

Internship in COINED, Argentina, Cordoba

For my third-year of marketing school, I have to make an internship of 3 months or more. What is the better to improve yourself f? Going to a foreign country! This seems like a very good opportunity for me.

The choice of the country was easy, I am very tempting about Latino America, and naturally I choose Argentina. This country offers a lot of possibilities, because they speak Spanish and they are as well European as American. Moreover, I would like to discover a new way of life, a new culture and a new way of working because it seems very different that in Europe.

I wanted to do a new challenge and this internship in COINED in Cordoba was one. In my marketing and communication study I would like to improve my competences, learn new thinks in marketing and in web. I arrived one week ago and I already written one new article for the COINED blog! It’s fantastic! The marketing team is very dynamic, young and very nice. It’s really pleasurable to work in such environment.

I think this internship and live during 4 months in this country is an advantage in my future carrier, every day I can see my progress in the language like in my learning of marketing. It’s really rewarding.  Besides I recommend for the entire student to challenge themselves and go to a foreign country. People in Argentina are welcoming, warm, always in good mood, open and very kind. Furthermore, Cordoba is a wonderful city where you don’t feel lost in is hugeness, enjoyable with its parks and its river, with a lot of story with its monuments and very animated day and night.

One tips: have a try, you’ll not regret it at all!

The MATE in Patagonia too

It´s a regional infusión of South America.
The infusión of the “mate” is, btween the most Argentine driks, practicaly the most popular and Patagonia is not the exception. The « mate » here is very traditional. For this reason, we want to mention some of its characteristics.
There are different types of « mate », and ussually it depends not only on the adding of some other product like milk, sugar, or coffee, but also its variety changes according to the zone, for example the missionary mate, the pampean mate, etc. We have also the cooked mate. But we are going to describe the most popular of all of them : « the mate cebado ». This is prepared generally in a small gourd, emptied for this purpose. Once it dries, the first step is « to cure » it. For this purpose there are infinite ways of doing this procedure we will comment the one that, by the already proven results, is really very good.
Once the gourd is ready, put in its inner part already used herb with a small gush of whisky and let it rest for another five days. Then wash and the « mate » is ready to be prepared.
To complete the “mate” is necessary count with a “bombilla” (to sorve the infusión). The bombilla should be place into the mate. Heat the wáter, but it must never be boiled, because if this is the case, the herb of the mate will quickly lose its flavour.
To accomplish all the operation, we have klisted some very important steps:
1)    Fill the gourd with herb until the third fourth of this size.
2)    Cover with one of your hands the opening of the gourd and mix it.
3)    Pour a gush of water on one of the halves of the mate, so that it is swollen and in some instants begin to prepare the infusion (cebar mate)
4)    If bitter mate is prefered, there forr sugar will not be included, otherwise add a sugar teaspoon each time.
5)    Place the bombilla, add the hot wáter, always by the bombilla and ¡Begin to cebar mate!

“Coastal Patagonia”

When we mention the Patagonian coastline, we cannot help thinking of the rich continental and marine wildlife and the contrasting landscapes of the endless steppe and the blue sea.

Puerto Madryn

Upon the shore of the Nuevo Gulf Puerto Madryn unfolds its character as a travel destination through the quality and gastronomy offer, as well as through every other service for visitors. Diving in clear waters - Madryn is Argentina’s diving capital -, mastering the wind upon a windsurf board, museums, historical sites, night-life, and its immediacy to the main places of interest and towns in the area, round off this exceptional destination.
Just 17 km south of this town is the State Protected Area Punta Loma, a breeding post of Southern sea-lions and Southamerican terns. Today Madryn is also the main destiny for international cruises in all Argentine Patagonia.

Puerto Pirámides
This is a little city lies in Peninsula Valdés. Here you can enjoy water and land disciplines such as diving, windsurf, sailing and fishing, trekking and sandboard. Every year from June through December visitors from all over the world concentrate their attention on this town for the unique feeling of “whale watching” the Southern Right whale.

Rawson y Playa Unión
Rawson is Chubut’s capital city and seat of the local administration.
It was the first  Welsh settlement in Patagonia late last century. Set at the Chubut river mouth –7 km away- is Rawson Harbour -of great importance in a national order- with its characteristic atmosphere and the constant presence of sea lions keeping the local fishermen company. Enjoy the unique taste of delicious fresh fish like sole, salmon and hake.
Nearby the seaside resort Playa Unión provides shops, bars and discos that liven up the summer months. Its location and climate turn it into a good place for the practice of windsurf and surf. Other interesting options are coastal fishing - several fishing contests are held in Playa Unión - and Commerson’s dolphins-watching boat tours.

Trelew

Trelew lies 65 km from Puerto Madryn and 20 km from Rawson and Playa Unión.
It is a communication and transport knot, as well as a commercial and industrial centre in Chubut’s Northeast Atlantic District.
This progressive and dynamic town concentrates an important service net for tourism: hotels, travel agencies, restaurants and an international airport.
From here you can visit all other places in the corridor.
In Trelew you will also find the Palaeontology Museum Egidio Feruglio (MEF), one of the most relevant museums in South America.
The Protected Area Punta Tombo is the best place, sheltering from September through April the largest continental breeding colony of Magellanic penguins in Patagonia.

Lower Chubut River Valley

Gaiman

Only 17 km from Trelew lies this small town basically known by its Welsh character.
Several tea-houses and old chapels bring us back to the times of the Welsh settlement. Gaiman was the first town council in Chubut. Nearby, in the location Bryn Gwyn, the Palaeontological Park - an actual museum in the open air – is the first of its kind in South America. In this park exhibits fossil founds in their corresponding geological seams.

Dolavon

Dolavon, a small town that lives mostly on agriculture. The first grain-mill in Chubut was built in Dolavon thanks to the first-class wheat grown in the area.

Florentino Ameghino Dam

This imposing piece of engineering is set 120 km west of Trelew.
Its population lives in a quiet village surrounded by giant red walls of rock, an imposing containing wall and an artificial water-reservoir that stretches over 25 km.

The sports offer includes canoeing, floating, fishing, climbing and trekking.
